Welcome at Shutterspeed, the website of aviation-photographer Arnold ten Pas. Ever since my father took me for the first time to Schiphol Airport in the Netherlands, I am hooked on aviation. I started photographing military aircraft when I was 16 and haven’t stopped since.
My first contact with aviation was made very early when my father took me on trips to Schiphol Airport. Later, I often visited Soesterberg Air Base near Utrecht to watch the based F-15s from the 32nd TFS. In 1988 I bought my first camera, a Minolta 7000i. From that year I started visiting airbases and airshows in Europe and later on also outside Europe.
Over the years I have visited many countries and Air Forces. In the past years I have flown with different types of aircraft of different Air Forces to do what is the ultimate in aviation photography: air-to-air photography. Some of the pictures made during those flights can be found on this page.
